SINS 2023 call for Symposia is closed
Symposia structure, preferred elements and limitations
Symposia, lasting 75 minutes, should consist of 4 presentations.
Three presentations, lasting 20 minutes, will be given by the symposium proponents. In order to stimulate the participation of young people in the meeting, the fourth presentation, lasting up to 15 minutes, will be given by young researchers (under 35), selected by the scientific committee on the basis of the submitted abstracts.
Presentations should be in English.
Each symposium may be proposed by one or two Chairs, preferably SINS members. Only one of them may act also as a speaker.
In case only one moderator is indicated, the scientific committee will assign the second one.
Each moderator or speaker may propose or participate in only one symposium proposal.
Moderators of symposia at the last SINS National Congress (Brescia 2021) cannot submit proposals.
At least two symposia will be completely reserved for researchers “under 40.” In this case, all participants, proposers and speakers, must be under 40 years of age on the submission deadline date.
Only one chair/speaker with non-Italian affiliation is allowed per symposium.
Proposals
Symposium proposals should refer to a topic chosen from the ones presented at the Congress. Each proposal should include the following information:
Title: describe the topic of the symposium as accurately and specifically as possible in < 10 words;
Summary: describe the scientific background and importance of the topics (max 100 words) and a list of 5 publications on the topic;
Speakers: give the full name, title, affiliation, address, e-mail address and telephone of the 3 speakers and the titles of their presentations. Proposed speakers for a symposium must belong to different Institutions/Universities.
Evaluation
Symposium proposals will be evaluated by the SINS Scientific Committee, composed of the board members and members of the local organizing committee.
Consideration will be given to:
- the scientific relevance of the proposed topics, consistent with the broadest possible representation of the
symposium themes - the scientific qualification of the proposers and speakers
- the coherence of the topics addressed by the speakers within the same symposium
- the balance between the different fields of neuroscience
- the balance between genders
- the presence among the speakers of young researchers (under 40)
- the presence of speakers who have not already been part of symposia in the last SINS National Congress
